I have had Computer problems

Well I thought that I was going to save money and still be able to get online with the same speeds, but that wasn't what happened. This is what happened to me and I will tell everyone that I can about this and hope that noone else has the problem that I did. I have Comcast cable for my computer and I had been looking into Verizon DSL and I finally convince Mom into letting me get it and when I was chatting with the rep from DSL I had asked over and over again what I needed to get 2 computers hooked up to the DSL and I was told that I would recieve everything that I needed in the kit that they were sending to me so I went ahead and placed the order and recieved the date that I would be able to install the DSL. So I took the old computer that Mom had and traded it out with the Gateway that I had in the other room, there was nothing wrong with it but when I got my back pay from Social Security I got me a new Dell and I was going to give the Gateway to my nephew when he came down but that never happened so I hooked it up to Mom's monitor and it worked great and it was alot faster that the one she had. So we waited for the delivery of the kit that would be coming for DSL and when it got here I should of sent it right back and never unpacked it and installed it on either computer. We have 2 phone lines and I should of had the DSL installed on the 2nd line the first time but I didn't think about it at the time but I tried to hook up the DSL on the main line but there were too many phones on that line and it would not connect, so I called and had it transferred to the other line and it took another 2 weeks but that was ok, I was not in that big of a hurry to cancel the cable and I am so glad that I didn't cancel it either. So I got it installed on Mom's computer and the first time that I had to restart the computer there was an error message on the screen and it would go away but when you turned it on or restart it there it would be and I could not find where it was coming from and why it was there. So then I tried to hook us up wireless and there was not the things that I needed in the box, so off to the phone I go and ask what I need and was told that they do not supply the USB adapters that I need and was told that was my responsibilty to buy those and install them. That pissed me offf and I was screaming at the person on the other end that I was told by 3 people that I would recieve what I needed to hook up 2 computer to a network and there was nothing there. So Mom told me to hook up my computer to the DSL and if she wanted to get online she would use mine which was fine with me. So I had Dad drill a hole in the wall to run a phone line into my room from the family room, then Mom and I went to get a longer phone line to run it into my room. We get it and run it through the wall and hook everything up to my computer. In the mean time I had problems with my printer that I use to print everything soI had talked to Lexmark and they were sending me a new printer because it was still under warranty so the day that Mom and I were hooking up the DSL the new printer came and after I hooked up DSL and installed the new printer and didn't bother with anymore I didn't need to use it right then so I thought everything was fine because it was showing up in the computer and it had printed the page it was supposed to and I just didn't think about it again. So that was Tuesday and on Friday I went to use the printer and it was giving me a error message that said that it was not hooked up to the computer, so I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it again and it would not work still so I tried all the things that the message said to do and nothing worked, so I go online to talk to Lexmark again and they had me try different things to get it to work and nothing worked at all so they said they were going to send me another printer and this time it will be another model so that is fine with me, so when I get the new one I hook it up and it will not scan at all but it will print so I chat with Lexmark again and they want me to install a new driver and then that should cure the problem and when I do that, it still doesn't work and in the meant time there is an error message that has popped up that says that there were DLL files that were missing. So I get online with Dell and try to find out what happened to the DLL files and they told me the only way that DLL files are deleted is by a hacker or a virus from software, I cannot get online with the DSL software at this time either so I hook up the cable and am able to get online right away so I am chatting with Dell and the only way that I can get all the files that have been deleted was to wipe the hard drive clean and reinstall everything again, so I started to back up files but there was a problem with the program and I could not back up the files that I wanted to keep. I lost all my pictures and layouts that I had stored on the hard drive but luckily I had some of them on CD and some of them were on Shutterfly.com but there were some pictures that I didn't have extras of but they were not that imporant. I started to erase the hard drive and reinstall all the software at 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon and I was still not done at 9 pm that night so on Saturday I was still installing software and pictures and other stuff that I wanted in here. Come to find out there was a virus or something in the software for the DSL and when I tried to uninstall it, it would not let me uninstall it so that is why I had to wipe the hard drive out. I called on Monday to cancel the account and DSL wanted me to talk to their techs about the problem and I had already tried to talk to them and all they told me that it was not their software so it had to be something with the computer and the printer they told me to buy another printer and I told them it was brand new just out of the box and the computer is fine except for what the software did to my computer. I checked Mom's computer and there were files that had been removed from hers also, I had just upgraded her Windows so I knew that there were no errrors on hers and when I installed the software then there were errors and the only thing installed after I upgraded was the DSL and I took it out as soon as possible, Mine has taken almost a full week to get everything back in and adjusted to the way that I like it. Finally got DSL cancelled and am back on cable and things are fine and the printer works fine too and the DSL is a peice a junk and I would not recommend any one to get DSL. It may be cheaper but when you average the time that it takes to fix the problems that it causes then it is not worth it at all and I am going to stick with cable. So that is what has been happening in my world and I am not happy about losing alot of things and some that can not be replaced but I guess that is the price that you pay for not backing things up but all that is now on here is backed up and new things willbe backed up on a weekly basis.
